CoinsGB - About me

I first became interested in coins when whilst living in Cyprus my grandmother gave
me some silver coins, which dated back to the time of the crusaders (I was about 7
years old). I soon added to these with other coins I found or collected, but due to
family circumstances I had to leave Cyprus. So, we moved back to beautiful
Scotland, where I was born in 1979 and I left my coin collection behind (never to be
seen again).

I am now happily married to my wife, Lorraine, who supports my passion/obsession
with coins. It was thanks to Lorraine's father "Buff", who is an avid world coin
collector, that my interest in coins was rekindled and I haven't looked back since. I
collect mainly British coins, they include some proofs and patterns, and my latest
interest being error coins. I have been collecting for a few years now and as well
as collecting coins I really enjoy reading coin related books and learning more
about the coins I collect.

I decided to make this website to try and help novice collectors gain some
knowledge. It is also a useful site for people, who have either found, bought or
inherited a British coin, but they are unsure of what they might have. I shall be
continuously adding to the site to make it more appealing for the advanced
collectors, with the inclusion of different varieties as well as proofs and patterns.

I would like to thank the countless people who have helped me along the way and
continue to help me learn more about this wonderful hobby. Also, a big thanks to
all the people that kindly gave me permission to use their pictures in this website.

I hope you enjoy the site and find it of some use or interest.
