GEORGE III HALF GUINEA 1762-1813
George III Half Guinea 1762 & 1763
There are seven different obverses and three different reverses issued for the half guinea of the George III reign. It was issued in almost every year from 1762 to 1813. The first two obverses were by Richard Yeo. Thomas Pingo was the designer of the third and forth obverses. Lewis Pingo (Thomas's son) was the designer of the fith, sixth and seventh obverses. The first reverse was the same as the reverse used in the George II half Guinea by John Tanner. The second reverse often refered to as the "spade" reverse on account of the shape of the shield was by Lewis Pingo. The third garter reverse was also by Lewis Pingo.
