| The parliament brought a new act out in the 3rd of August 1816 stating that the guinea should be replaced by a new coin. This new coin became the sovereign. George III sovereign has only got one obverse and one reverse. The obverse and the reverse was by Benedetto Pistrucci. The world famous sovereign reverse (which is still used today) was first used on the sovereign of 1817.
