| The 1831 two pounds, sometimes referred to as two sovereigns was issued as a plain edged proof as part as a proof set. The bust was designed by William Wyon, and the new wreath reverse was designed by Jean Baptiste Merlen. The obverse features the portrait of king William IV with the words GULIELMUS IIII D: G: BRITANNIAR REX F: D: The reverse features House of Hanover coat of arms shield and crown above. With drawn back and tied curtains either side, and ANNO ("In the year of (Our) Lord") and the date below. 1831 Gold, 16 grams, 28mm Diameter. |
